09/22/2011 Entry: "9/22/2011: Rare String of First Time Wins in the IFBB"

For only the second time in the history of the IFBB, a string of four consecutive wins by first time winners, happened this year:

Jun 18 Shaun Tavernier won the Toronto Pro 202
Jun 18 Craig Richardson won the Toronto Pro
Jun 25 Al Auguste won the Tampa Bay Pro 202
Jun 25 Marius Ohne won the Tampa Bay Pro

This was the first IFBB pro win for each of the men above.

This scenario happened back in 1983 also:
Apr 16 Scott Wilson won GP: Portland
May 21 Lee Haney won the Night of Chp
Sep 11 Tony Pearson won the GP: Denver
Sep 24 Samir Bannout won Mr. Olympia

Interestingly (to me at least) is that the 2011 version perhaps would have been a string of seven such contests if Troy Alves had not disrupted the chain by winning his second contest on July 30, because the next two contests:

Aug 06 Jacksonville Pro was won by first time winner Vaughan Ettienne, and,
Aug 13 Europa Supershow 202 was won by first time winner Gaetano Cisternino

Of course, in spite of what someone on another site claimed, this type of info cannot be found by a simple (or complicated) Google search
